I was a late bloomer when it came to computers. After graduating from college and having a difficult time finding work, I finally got my first "real job" at a telecommunications company. It was mostly customer service, but there was some troubleshooting involved and I learned a lot about network technologies such as T-1 lines, frame relay, etc. My stay that this company was very short and moved to Oregon and took a job working for Tektronix doing technical support in their call center. During this time, I began working on my MCSE (NT 4.0) and created a web site to help others working on their certifications. That site was created in 1998 and was the beginnings of what you see here today.
After moving up the ladder at Tektronix, I was eventually laid off after 4 years of service. My next job was as a systems analyst for Xerox. The pay was incredible, the job provided a lot of freedom, and I was exposed to a very wide range of technologies. But for some reason, I still wasn't satisfied and decided to go the self-employment route as mcmcse.com had become one of the premier certification sites in the world. Since that time, we have incorporated under the name 7 Seconds Resources, Inc. and have launched several other sites including: TechTutorials.net, CertifyPro.com, CertNotes.com, and our new labor of love, BeerTutor.com.
I now spend most of my time maintaining the web sites and running the business which has resulted in a loss of most of my technical skills. It definitely isn't like riding a bicycle and Windows networking definitely isn't my strength anymore, although I am still a Microsoft MVP. At times, I miss the technical side of things, but somebody has to keep this train moving.
My professional certifications include:
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
Software Management Professional (SMP)
University Degrees Held:
BS in Sociology from University of Oregon
