WHATS NEW @ MCMCSE:
Here is what weve been up to:

A new 30 question practice exam for Designing Security in Windows 2000 (70-220) has been added at http://www.mcmcse.com/win2k/practice/702201.shtml. We have made this one fairly hard as evidenced by the very few passing scores coming in. Are you up to the challenge?

Our new forums are about where we thought they would be at this point, but it seems that there are a lot of people hovering around from a distance. Dont be afraid to get in there and post your questions - there are no stupid ones. It would also be appreciated if you can help answer questions posted by others. Go to http://www.mcmcse.com/cgibin/forums/ikonboard.cgi to get started.

HOW IPV6 MIGHT HELP YOU:
As many of you know, IPv6(aka IPng) implementation of the IP protocol is coming sometime in the near future. In this article/tutorial we present background information, how this might help your career and plenty of resources to get you started. Go to http://www.mcmcse.com/articles/ipv6.shtml to read the article.

NEW MCSE EXAMS:
Microsoft has announced 2 new exams for the Windows 2000 certification track as follows:

SQL Server 2000 Enterprise(70-228) became available on 1/25/00. Go to:
http://www.microsoft.com/trainingandservices/exams/examasearch.asp?PageID=70-228

Migrating from NT 4.0 to Windows 2000(70-222) is now live.

SURVEY RESULTS:
Our most recent survey question asked, "Has your company been laying people off in the recent economic slide?" Here were the results:

50% Yes
50% No
There were 511 respondents.

This is a much higher ratio than we expected. Those that did not understand the paper MCSE debates of yore are likely to find out why that was not the best route to go. When times are good, companies tend to be wasteful and will hire nearly anyone with a few letters after their name. Now, we are in a different situation where most companies will be much more selective when hiring. Budgets are tight and will probably remain that way for some time. The end result will probably be greater competition and evaluation of skills for job applicants.
