Microsoft has announced the new MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7 and has partnered with the Help Desk Institute (HDI). This certification will require the following 2 exams.
70-680 TS: Windows 7, Configuring
70-685 Pro: Windows 7, Enteprise Desktop Support Technician
Exam 70-680 is already live and 70-685 will be live later in the year. Candidates must also pass one of the following HDI exams:
HDI Support Center Analyst (HDI-SCA)
HDI Desktop Support Technician (HDI-DST)

| :: Cisco Revises CCIE Voice Lab Exam :: |
|
Only July 16th, Cisco announced that their CCIE Voice Lab exam has been refreshed and is now version 3.0. Cisco advises, "students should no longer use the v2.0 Lab Equipment and Software versions and v 2.0 blueprint as they have formally reached end of life."

Cisco Certified Architect, CCNP Wireless, and two new Cisco Datacenter Unified Computing Specialists reinforce Cisco's commitment in developing state of the art, technology driven, role-based certifications that meet the demands of today's network professional.
Cisco Certified Architect -- Available since January, Cisco Certified Architect is the pinnacle for individuals wishing to establish formal validation of both design and IT skills in Cisco technologies and infrastructure.
CCNP Wireless -- Available July 24, 2009, CCNP Wireless recognizes the expertise and technical acumen of wireless professionals who support and manage Cisco wireless LANs and networks.
Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Specialists -- Available October 2009, Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Design Specialist and Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Support Specialist validate a data center computing professional's knowledge, expertise, and ability to run mission-critical computer operations.

I used this book to pass my CCENT 640-822 exam with a 902 score. I had also read/tested from the older version and found the current Odom book to be MUCH easier to read. The included BOSON Exam Environment is exceptionally relevant for preparing for the exam. The Cisco CCENT/CCNA exams may be getting harder these days, but the prep materials are improving as well.

Sybex has been in the certification business for a while and I've always been pleased with their products. They've always been one of the fastest companies to produce content for an exam and they always gave lots of material for anyone eager to learn. This is why I was so happy to receive the MCITP: Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator Certification box from Sybex. I was really curious to see if Sybex would follow through on the quality I got accustomed to. Not only did I find some quality books, but I also found tons of material to prep myself for the exams. The kit comes in with five books covering the 5 exams to attain the MCITP title: MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration Study Guide MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration Study Guide MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Application Platform Configuration Study Guide MCTS: Microsoft Windows Vista Client Configuration Study Guide MCITP: Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator Study Guide Now, Sybex has always been generous and they follow through with this edition as each book contains a cd-rom with multiple add-ons and tools: - A custom test engine - Hundreds of sample questions - Electronic flash cards for mobile devices (palm, pocket pc's) - A copy of the book in pdf which makes it easier to search But the real deal in this set are the books themselves. They contain thorough explanations of the new concepts. I found that the theory is impeccable. Although it's not the only way to work with the volumes, I found that these books did a great job at helping me focus on areas where I lacked skills. Also, a lot of editors these days spend considerable time building complicated hands-on exercises. Reading a book that strictly focuses on hands-on can be quite boring for an it professional who gets to play with the products in his every day job. This is why I found this certification kit a great tool with a nice balance between theory, self testing and practice.
