Which is it? I have seen conflicting answers on various study boards. Hot and Dry or Cool and Dry.

hot and dry increases the chances of ESD, so cooler is better

cool and not too dry, not too wet is good!

It is actually cool/cold and dry.. For many years I worked for printer manufacturers and our customers in the cold dry climates often had problems related to static electricity.

Google it and I think you will see that cool/dry is the right answer. Smile

Cool and dry seems to be the concensus. Low humidty the key.
Arizona the exception. LOL

Just to clarify.. Cool/Dry will cause ESD. Techtrainer had a different answer so there was no consensus Cool

One thing is for sure...avoid rubbing a balloon on your head. That should help.

Just remember the 70/70 rule. 70 Degrees and 70% humidly is ideal for working on computers because if keeps the ESD away.
