Wonder if anyone can help me with this...

Trying to network a Windows NT4 Enterprise Server.

I have an Intel 82557 based PCI Network card, 10/100 adapter. This setup works fine with every other OS i've tried. Now, i've limited experience of NT in general, but when I installed the OS, it seemed happy with the network card. When you then conduct the networking tests, it performs the first batch of tests fine, I/O etc

The second part then tell's me that the cable is not plugged in, when it clearly is (i've checked this a few times)

So, i'm not sure if there's a software error, or incompitable networking equipment for NT4 Confused - I didn't think so either!

Well, the one that's installed is it's own driver, (i.e. from NT4 setup) but there's no harm in acquiring one from Intel of course.

OK Cheers..

Although it does look like a faulty cable between my two switches is to blame. Windows 2003 Server box on the same switch couldnt connect to anything on the other switch...

woops!

Anyone else hate NT's issue with not likeing any drivers? lol 99% of the time its a driver issue which kind of makes me wonder why people still use it besides the fact that its more reliable then ME Neutral

Love/Hate on the hardware side.
Loved the hardware training, hated the PCI bus restriction and no USaBility

NT4 has always been fussy on hardware - Check that the hardware you are using is on the HCL and use the correct driver rather than the OS driver!
