Hi,
Failed 290 yesterday with a score of 612. My weakness is Managing and Maintaining Access to Resources, I didnt score particularly high in this area although managed full marks in Managing and Maintaining Physical and Logical Devices!
I am going to knuckle down and study read hard and pay particular attention to Terminal Services. I think I will give it two weeks before I schedule a re-take.
I had four simulation questions, which were pretty straightforward.
I used the MS Press Book, Exam Cram and lab environment via Virtual PC.
Any other suggestions into what I can do to improve on my weak area?

You are about 3 or 4 questions near the pass and hence you have known your weakness points then just stress and concentrate on them very much and sure you will do it.
Try to practice more exams.....I use ExamCram for my certs but the MS press book I really don`t like or recommend, cause I feel that its kinda not directed to the exams but more to instructors lifestyle "As microsoft says MS press are called MCSE on papers" so I recommend Sybex as a hard copy refrence "I use it for all my exams" , you know it is also not directed to exam but more to real life problems.
And as I always say...always be here and ask ask ask ..... I just love this forum see ya soon in the 291 section.

You seem to already have a good head start on your restudies. Review areas you are weak on, but don't forget to look at everything again. Last time I failed an exam, I tried to study only what I did bad on, and almost failed again by concentrating on one topic too much. You'll get it next time! _________________ i remain, he who remains to be....

Keep your head up man. I failed my first time with a 600 something, but then passed with a 775. The simulations seemed to work in my favor because I had like 6 of them and I think I got all them right. The questions were kind of hard though....
I used Microsoft Press, MIke Myers Passport, and the Windows 2003 Registry Book. _________________ Network+, I-net+, A+, Security+, Server+, Word & Excel 2000, MCP (NT Workstation 4.0, XP 70-270, 2003 70-290), STI Knowledge HelpDesk Certified, AAS Computer Technician,

Yeah, I just failed the 70-290 with a 610. I really thought I was going to pass it. It really frustrated me, considering I took off work and had to drive through traffic and had an anxiety attack about it. I couldn't believe it. Anyways, I had read through 2 books, have about 1 year of experience in the field, but not with the subject matter directly. I try to SIM at home with my servers. I also took 2 pratices tests, a cram session guide, test pratice guide, took the freaking classes. I don't know what to do. Some of the questions you are going to miss even if you wrote them. There is such an ambiguity about them that really frustrates me. I can ALWAYS narrow them down to two answers. I don't know what to concentrate on or study on--it says I did bad in disaster recory and backups. Questions are VERY and I can't stress enough, VERY AMBIGUOUSLY worded. There were these interactive questions where you had to actually do what it wanted. It wanted you to open ADUC and do things with users and groups, etc. But what I noticed, was that when you opened it to check the changes you made, your changes were gone--So I have no faith in these questions--also the damn thing would freeze up on me and loose my changes. I had about 7 of these questions, and they are VERY time consuming. Anyways I could rant all day. I don't know what to do but cry.

Failing is frustrating, but don't get down about it. You have a chance to brush up on your weak areas, test yourself, etc.. Plus you know what to expect now. I am sure you will get it next time. _________________ Did you know?

I agree, some of the questions can be very misleading, but I guess that is one of Microsoft's ploys. I actually found the simulation questions quite straightforward (I only had four).
Can anyone recommend good technet articles on Terminal Server and NTFS Permissions.
