Is the user account you are logged on as at least a member of the local Power Users security group?

Power Users is a local group on the XP workstation, not on the domain. You need to look under Local Users and Groups in Computer Management. I believe only members of the local Administrators group and Power Users can create new shares.

Log on to the windows xp workstation with "administrative account " then enable the "simple file sharing " feature once you enable this the security
tab will not be available then log on using the user account then you will be able to see the "sharing tab"

You can do this be creating a Restricted Groups group policy object.

1) You need to create a domain security group (for example, Local Power Users) and add all users to this security group or if you require all members of the Domain Users security group to be members of the local power users group you can use this security group within the group policy object.

2) Create a group policy object or add the group policy settings to an existing one.Browse to the following group policy object setting:
Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Restricted Groups

3) Select 'Add Group', you will be prompted to add a group name, here you add 'Power Users' the reference to the local power users security group.

4) Enter the security group (or the Domain Users) created in Stage 1 to the 'Members of this group'.

5) Link the group policy object to the organisational unit(s) in which youre computer objects are located as the group policy object applys computer settings.

6) The group policy settings will be applied next time the machine policy is refreshed and rebooted as the settings are applied at startup.

It was me who first suggested checking the local power users security group, but never mind! Very Happy
