Does the company you work for pay for your exams/study materials or do you have to pay for these items yourself?

The company I work for allow you to take a full study day (paid leave) on the day of the exam but the exam fee and any further material all come out of my own pocket.

Would be interesting to see the percentage of those whose companies pay for there employees to prepare and sit the exams.

At the end of the day they benfit from my greater knowledge, but on the opposite end of the scale you could be ready to look for alternative employment with your improved credentials.

I get 1 day's paid leave per exam (to allow me to sit it). When I pass, they refund the exam fee (e.g. - if I fail an exam, I don't get reimbursed).

I do not get assistance towards study materials that i choose to purchase, but the team has access to a technical library with rpinted copies of most things, and online copies of virtually any book you could dream of ... There's also a variety of CBT's for the majority of exams.

Finally - all the resources above are legit ...

I suppose it depends on how you like to study ... I ended up buying all the MS Press stuff myself anyway because it was handy to be able to study at home and at work without worrying that someone else would have borrowed the book you want ...

The company I work for pays for everything!

Sadly I'm a self-employed contractor so the company I work for is my own. Still nice to get a tax break on any study materials I buy.

My company pays for me not for the study material that I buy but for the exam fee. That too, only if we pass, it is not otherwise. Its like we can re-imburse the exam fee alone by submitting them a phtocopy of our certification. A nice deal , init? Very Happy

They have named this scheme as "U Pass V Pay" Smile

I get paid time off for the exam and the exam paid for if I pass.

It is actually interesting because I get the day off paid even if I fail but no reimbursement on the test; was wondering if I should be failing the first time with the MS Second Shot but I'd rather just pass the first time and get it over with. Smile

My company also has study materials; I have yet to find out if they reimburse for study materials I bought out of pocket.

My company pays for Pass only and sometimes i get company paid trainings but they are being cheap now.
I dont get paid days off or time off to take the test though.
Nor did i get any compensation for passing any of them.

My company recently expected everyone to get MCP certified so they could accumulate Microsoft Partner points. In that specific case they paid exam fees for both passes and fails as well as provided training material. For any other exams that I would want to take, the company pays for a pass only and I buy my own study material.

My company pays you double the cost of the exam, but I don't think you get any time off to take it.

My company gives me time off as "training" for the day.

As I recently only started, I haven't asked them to pay for the last two exams I sat to get my MCSE.

Was nice to be able to say that i've got an MCSE all on my own though.

I did not even ask the company I work for to assist me, mainly becuase they were pretty up front about expecting people to stick around for awhile if the company paid for any educational opportunities. Personally, I would rather not have to sign anything stating I will work some where x number of months because they spotted me some money for training aids and vouchers.

My current company pays for study materials, time off for the test, and the exams if I pass. I also get to use all the equipment that has been left over from upgrades, so I like to upgrade alot! Smile

You guys are talking about companies paying exams fees.
My company either pay exams fees nor the salary properly.

But for most of the techie's here see the exams fee is itself huge amount.
I think its time for decrease in exam fee.
