The only way you are going to be able to really learn the material is grab some thorough texts that have labs, get 3 older Cisco routers (couple hundred bucks) and put some time into it. I think CCNA requires you to be able to configure small networks up to 3 routers complex. _________________ A+ 2003 Obj, AAS: Computer Networking, CCNA, MCP:70-270

3 years hands on to be a CCNA?
Why did everyone jump on this guy or assume he was looking for braindumps.
I see that his post was kinda vague.
But Fast to him could be 3-6 months.
I dont think the CCNA is that high of a cert to need 3 years hands on.
You can get a bachelors in engineering in 3 years if you go in the summers and winter sessions and clep out of bs classes.
I'd rather be an electrical, computer, civil engineer then a CCNA.

You don't need 3 yrs experience to study for an exam like the CCNA, as a matter of fact you don't need any experience to study for the CNNA. Don't assume the guy is going to use braindumps because he didn't mention that. _________________ MCSE 2003

Should have added the capitols in my previous post. I think that some of us are on the right track with what he/she is after
And I can't believe people don't see that my 3 years is a reply to his fast/rapid way to show that there are no short cuts in life _________________ Koen

Actually, I have been studying for the CCNA off and on for about a year and a half. I have two Cisco Routers and a Switch. I will probably take the exam some time next year. I care more about practicle knowledge than the cert, but I may try to take it soon. I was studying for some Microsoft Exams as well, but I was too lazy to take them. Microsoft seems to be kinda easy since I work as a Server Engineer dealing with security on Windows 2003 Servers.
May dad studied for about 1 year and recieved a perfect score on the CCNA). However, he taught certification classes for computers classes for 6 years and worked as an Electronics Engineer for a while at Princeton University.
I think that average novice user should study a little over a year. This is so that user retains the information for a while. If the person is not working at all, maybe 6 months of heavy training will enable that person to pass. Who knows... Its up to the individual... _________________ Network+, I-net+, A+, Security+, Server+, Word & Excel 2000, MCP (NT Workstation 4.0, XP 70-270, 2003 70-290), STI Knowledge HelpDesk Certified, AAS Computer Technician,

heh my wife was only 1% off passing with no experience and just a couple weeks reading the books, plus some extra-curicular books on routing, ip and subnetting. Then she gave up altogether on IT.
I myself will personally be buying one of those CCNA/CCIE lab kits of ebay, usually come with a couple 2600's and a catalyst of some sort, pretty good value usually. _________________ A+,MCSA:Messaging, MCSE:Security
