It's a toss up for me. Would I be better off going towards my MCDST or start the 70-270/MCSE Route? How dows 70-270 differ from the MCDST format? I know MCDST counts as an MCSA elective but not MCSE? Any advice thoughts area greatly appreciated.

270 is just 270 it doesn't differ depending on which track you take so you'll still get the same knowledge no matter what subject you do next. You'd generally get mcdst if you want to be tech support. I personally wouldn't do it if you were going to be an mcse but if you wanna just sit at mcsa for a while then it certainly is an option.

Good luck!

I have done both, 270 and MCDST. If you really want MCDST, then do 270 after all it is required for MCSE. When you are done with 270, you can do the next two within two weeks. Concept almost cross-over with the two tests. MCDST is focused on end-user support on IE, Outlook Express, and Basic Network. If you already have a Network+ then you will just walk-over and be certified in a flash of time. Good luck!

I'd suggest going for A+ and Network+ rather than MCDST. Those certifications are a lot more well-known and respected, and collectively they fulfill the same requirement for MCSA as MCDST does. If you're going for MCSA or MCSE, 70-270 is required for both. For more info on the MCSA/MCSE requirements you can go to this site: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/default.mspx

MCDST is 2 very easy exams, it has helped me in my job hunts. So if you have the time go for it.
