And, last time the third party vendors had apple's approval.

It would make sense if Apple wants to start adding market share to get a little competition for their hardware. Then again, that is where they make most of their money.

Last time it almost killed Apple. Powermax, Motorola, Power Computing, and Radius. Took marked shares form apple not Wintel.

But what I was referring to was there was a company called Quorto(sp?) that was taking Quadra 610 ROM chips and building a computer around them. This happened just as the 601 chip came out. Quorto could only build 68040 based computers. So with out a supply of Rom chips for the Power PCs they went out of biasness sued out of business.
