WHATS NEW AT SPRAGUES MCSE RESOURCES:
The NT Workstation Study Guide is complete and available in the Study section at: http://www.mcmcse.com/study/study.shtml The online test for the NT Workstation exam will be available within a few days so keep your eye out for it.

SURVEY RESULTS:
The most recent survey that we posted, asked the following question: How have you studied for the majority of the exams that you have taken?

I was pretty sure that the majority of people were going the self-study route, but I didnt expect the percentage to be as high as it was. Lets take a look at the results:

An overwhelming 77% said that they have used the self-study approach for the majority of the exams that they have studied for. My personal feeling is that if you already work in the IT industry, then this is probably the way to go. Most of the texts in conjunction with testing software(like the Transcenders) should be enough to help you pass. In addition there is a wealth of free online practice tests and study guides that make self study a very feasible option for those with some background with computers and networking. DO NOT FORGET that nothing can serve as a substitute for hands on experience.

18% answered that they have been taking classes at a school or at work for the most part. I would highly recommend a class for at least your first exam if you are new to all of this.

2% have attended boot camps. I expected this number to be higher, although boot camps can be very expensive($1000-$10,000+). I have heard complaints that many of the boot camps will not release their success statistics. I would be very wary of anyone that will not provide this type of information, especially if you are getting prepared to drop several thousand dollars on it.

2% answered that they have mainly used online training classes. I have never checked any of these out, so cant comment on their effectiveness, although I would again suggest that you thoroughly investigate any company that you consider giving your money to. See if you can find a trainer that is a MCT(Microsoft Certified Trainer) or at the very least make sure that they at least have their MCSE.

2% answered that they are using other resources as a means to pass the exams.

There were 979 respondents.
