managers and professionals that portrayed the importance of training
and certification during these uncertain times.

Our most recent survey question asked, �Have you been personally
affected by recent economic conditions?�. Here are the results:
66% - Yes
34% - No
There were 875 respondents.
Over 1,000,000 people in the United States have already been layed
off since the beginning of the economic downturn and many expect
that number to double before all is said and done. Many have been
forced to accept paycuts and work longer hours to make up for those
who have been layed off. Baby boomers thinking about retirement have
been forced to think again and most have lost the majority of the
money that they had in the stock market. Yup, it�s a real mess right
now.

| Cisco Raises Exam Prices: |
|
Cisco has announced that beginning November 1st, all exams beginning
with the prefix 640 and 9E0, except for exam 640-509 will now cost
$125(US). Exam 640-509 will now cost $250(US).

We recently had the opportunity to review Cisco Press� Cisco CCNA
Training Kit Exam #640-507. This kit is in essence a combination of
2 resources � An e-book and practice exam software. The package also
contains 2 sample chapters from CCNA Exam Certification Guide in PDF
format.
The e-book is a 199 page book presented in PDF format with software
that tracks your progress in getting through the book and breaks the
reading down into assignments. The content of the e-book covers the
exam objectives thoroughly and in great detail with the same exhibits
and figures that you would expect from a book in hardcopy format. You
will need to have a general background in networking concepts before
using this product. You should have networking experience before
attempting the CCNA anyway.
The second part to this product is the very robust test engine that
contains 419 questions and 2 testing modes. Study Mode is a very
flexible testing environment in which the user can customize a wide
variety of variables including the time limit, number of questions,
content covered and much more. This is one of the most customizable
test engines that we have seen. The Practice Exam mode simulates the
real testing environment with a 60 question timed practice test.
In both modes your results are presented in graphic format and can be
broken down into score by module. Explanations for the answers are
links that take you back to the e-book to the exact section that
explains the material covered in the question.
Overall, the product is worth looking at, particularly for the
practice tests. While some may be able to pass using this product
exclusively, others may want to consider supplementing it with a full
text such as the Cisco CCNA Exam #640-507 Certification Guide.
