At the Boards
We have just released brand new online labs for Windows 2000 and
CheckPoint. We think you will find the labs incredible and an
excellent tool for your certification preparation. In your personal
network laboratory you can build Active Directory trees, configure
CheckPoint FireWall-1, manage Exchange 2000, implement custom
group policies, install SQL Server and much, much more. In the
MC MCSE Laboratory, you will work on LIVE networks. Field-
modeled scenarios set the stage for endless configurations that
provide REAL networking experience. Leave all the simulations
behind and work on a laboratory network containing real servers,
real operating systems, and all the complexities of a true
networked environment. Click here to get started.
We will be upgrading the test engine used to administer all of our
free practice exams. The current engine is unable to handle the
load that is being placed on it which is why there is a long wait
when loading the pages. The new engine will solve this problem and
will include new features such as support for multiple answer
questions. To visit our testing center.

| NT 4.0 Certifications Will Not Retire: |
|
In a very exciting announcement, Microsoft has announced that NT
4.0 certifications are not going to retire. From now on credential
versions will designate the operating system that you are
certified on. For example, if you are an MCSE on the Windows NT
4.0 track, your certification will now be designated as "Microsoft
Certified Systems Engineer on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0".
Equally exciting is the fact that if you passed the 4 core exams
on the NT 4.0 track, you may continue to work toward your NT 4.0
MCSE certification using existing (unretired) exams.
The Windows 2000 Accelerated Upgrade exam will still retire on
December 31st, 2001.
If you have questions, you can post them in our forums or visit Microsoft's web site.

One of the many recent changes that Microsoft has made to their
certification program was the addition of the Microsoft Certified
Systems Administrator (MCSA) designation. The MCSE requires a
significant amount of network and infrastructure design skills,
not to mention 7 tests to achieve an MCSE. The MCSA is a scaled
down version of the MCSE that largely targets systems
administrators, network administrators and help-desk staff as
opposed to IT managers and network designers.
In order to receive an MCSA, candidates must pass 4 exams. The
specific requirements for this exam can be found on Microsoft's web
site and will be added to ours shortly.

| CompTIA Exams Are MCSA Electives: |
|
Microsoft has allowed CompTIA's A+, Network+ and Server+ exams to
count as an elective toward MCSA certification. 2 CompTIA exams
count as 1 elective in the following combinations:
A+ and Network+
or
A+ and Server+
CompTIA's exams tend to be much easier than Microsoft's so it may
make sense to take this route. More information about this can be
found on CompTIA's web site.
Cisco has announced several procedural and content changes to the
CCIE exam. Read more about these changes here.
