    Tough Time For Job Hunters:
Right now is a particularly bad time to be looking for a job. Between January and July of this year, over 1 million employees have been laid off in the U.S. alone and this has been further compounded by the terrorist attacks of September 11th. Above and beyond the 100,000 employees in the Airline industry that have lost their jobs, many tech companies will likely be forced into another round of layoffs due to large amounts of business lost during the period following the attacks and continued declines in consumer confidence and spending. Some analysts estimate that as many as 2 million more jobs may be lost.

So what does this mean to you? If you have a job, keep it - even if you are not happy in your current situation. It might just be wise to wait until things normalize before making a move.

If you are thinking about changing careers and getting into the I.T. industry, it would be advisable to wait. You will be competing with thousands of more experienced employees competing for fewer available jobs.

If you are already working in I.T., now would be a good time to get certified in order to help distinguish you from your peers. Just because you haven't been laid off yet, doesn't mean that you won't be. It is difficult to say what lies ahead or how bad this will get. It makes a lot of sense to prepare for the worst and certification will help.

If you are in the process of looking for a job, check out our career center. This database currently contains over 43,000 available jobs.
