  • What's New @ MC MCSE:
Here is what weve been up to:

We have added a brand new I-Net+ practice exam to our Testing Center. There are currently 29 questions available, however, at least 20 more will be added in the next week.

We have reorganized the Cisco section of the site to navigate like the MCSE and CompTIA areas. We have also added passing scores, # of questions, time limits and exam difficulty for the Cisco exams. You can access the Cisco portion of our site here.

We are working vigorously on a new training directory that will include books, CBTs, online training, practice test software, etc for various certifications. It will allow users to find quality training products, rate them and write reviews about them. We hope to release the directory soon, but we need your help!!! We need feedback as to the training products that you have found useful in the past and the companies that make them. Please help us out and post this information in our forums.

    Thanks in advance!

    MCSE Early Achiever:
Microsoft has announced that candidates who achieve an MCSE certification before October 31st, 2001 will receive a "limited-edition MCSE Early Achiever identification card". What this means is that Microsoft needs more MCSEs as the numbers will drop substantially after December 31st when the NT 4 certifications expire. In exchange they are willing to give you a nearly worthless wallet card. On the other hand, they are also offering a 25% discount on selected exams between now and September 30th by using a promotional code when registering for your test.

If interested, visit Microsoft's web site.

    Multiple Monitors in Windows 2000:
Do you constantly have a ton of windows open and need more desktop space? Like Windows 98, Windows 2000 supports multiple monitors. This tutorial will walk you through configuring this very nice feature on your system.

    Reminder - A+ Going Adaptive:
On August 31st, CompTIA's A+ exams will be going adaptive so if you are adverse to this type of testing you might want to get signed up now. If you have questions regarding these changes, read CompTIA's FAQ.

Please note that these changes will not affect the validity of our free study materials which can be found below:

    CIW i-Accelerate for Microsoft Professionals:
In our last edition we talked about the growing popularity of the CIW certification and how it might be beneficial to MCSEs with the disappearance of the MCSE+Internet designation. So if you have looked into the CIW program at all, you probably noticed that you have to take 3 exams to become a Master CIW Administrator right? Not necessarily! Prosoft has developed the i-Accelerate program for Microsoft, Novell and Intel professionals that only requires that the candidate take 2 exams. These exams are CIW Foundations and Master CIW for Microsoft and Novell Professionals (ID0-475). As we mentioned in the last edition, if you are I-Net+ certified you are already qualified for the CIW Foundations exam leaving you with only 1 exam to take for your Master CIW Administrator certification.

So who qualifies for the I-Accelerate? You may be surprised to learn that you don't even necessarily have to be an MCSE to qualify. For example, if you have passed the NT 4.0 workstation or server exam AND the TCP/IP exam, you qualify for i-Accelerate. There are similar arrangements for the current Windows 2000 track as well.

    CIW Product Review:
We recently had the opportunity to review Prosoft Training's Master CIW Administrator Official Self-Study Suite. Currently, there are very few 3rd party products available for this certification, but there are quite a few being developed. click here to find out why you won't want them.
