CRUNCH TIME:
Microsoft has issued a warning on their website that those of you thinking about taking NT 4.0 track exams in the last part of this year may run into limited availability. There may be a rush of people trying to qualify for the Windows 2000 upgrade by passing the NT Workstation, NT Server and NT in the Enterprise exams and available testing slots may become sparce. They recommend booking your exams through VUE or Sylvan Prometric now to make sure that you do not miss your opportunity to take the exams.

BOOK REVIEW:
We have reviewed "Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure Training Guide" by New Riders Publishing and found it to be consistent with the rest of the books in this series. At the end of every chapter, you will find case studies, exercises, review questions and exam style questions. The authors understands the importance of hands on experience when tackling the Windows 2000 exams as evidenced by the lab style format of the text. We would definitely recommend having access to a Windows 2000 server when using this book so that you can take advantage of the numerous screen shots and exercises.

We would not recommend this book to a complete beginner, as it seems to assume previous experience with DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and other topics. If you have previous knowledge of Windows networking concepts then this book is for you.

As with the other texts in this series, the book is accompanied by the Exam Gear CD that offers practice tests and the entire text in digital format.
