BOOK REVIEW:
In the introduction of New Riders' MCSE Training Guide: Windows 2000 Server, the publisher makes 2 claims, that this book gives you the information you need to pass Microsoft exam 70-215, and that it is the "one-stop shop" for this goal. This text delivers on both counts.

New Riders has focused the content of this book squarely on training the reader to pass the Microsoft certification. While many study guides will fill pages with history of a product, market placement, and other peripheral information, this book is straight to the point. To be sure, this book is not a training manual on Windows 2000 Server, it is a tool to pass a test.

This is not to say this book is the equivalent to a compact Exam Cram guide. New Riders has included over 800 pages of general information, examples, exercises, and review questions. One of the best features of the book are the frequent "step by step" sections. These short tutorials walk the reader through a specific function that they will need to know. More training manuals should use this format!

This guide closes with a "Final Review" section that includes solid study tips and a practice exam with answers and thorough explanations. The chapter also has as a nice section called "fast facts" the factoids in this section would be good material to cram with right before your test. In addition to all this the accompanying CD-Rom has the entire book in PDF format, as well as an Exam Gear practice test included.

New Riders impressed us with this Guide. It is thorough, but not overwhelming. Its solid focus on the exam is perfect for MCSE candidates who are comfortable enough with Windows 2000 Server that they don't need to have a great deal of perspective on the product. If you fit that bill, then this could be your "one stop shop".

SOMETHING FOR FREE:
You are probably reading this because the title got your attention. No, this is not an offer for anything free other than free advice that will benefit you not only in your career, but in your life.

One of the most common email questions that we get is "How do I get xxxxx for free?" You can substitute xxxxx with MCSE, experience, training, etc. Usually, the answer is that you can't get anything for free as there is no free lunch in this world. The second answer would be that you get what you pay for. One or the other ALWAYS applies.

In life, you get back what you put in. The same is true in certification. If you want to take the easy road and simply pass your exams, it will catch up with you some day. If you want to invest yourself in it and truly become a qualified professional then you will prosper.

There are a lot of free websites such as ours that are designed to help you pass your exams, however, ALL of these sites should be viewed as supplements to your EDUCATION, not as a free opportunity to get certified. Get what you can out of sites like ours, but do not forget that this is should be a small part of your certification process and do not expect to get certified for free. To do it right, you need to buy books, training materials, computers, software, etc.

IT IS OK TO HELP US:
Need to get rid of some guilt? Haven't performed a good deed in a while? We can help! All you have to do is click on the link below and follow the simple instructions on the resulting page.
