    COMPTIA UPDATE:
The folks at CompTIA have been busy making changes and additions to their certification programs as of late.

The makers of the popular A+ and Network+ exams will release a new Linux+ certification track. The announcement was made on July 18th and the press release can be viewed at http://www.comptia.org/newspr/20000718.htm

As of July 28th, the A+ exam is now adaptive. This means that the A+ Core now has between 20 to 30 items and the DOS/Windows has between 20 to 30 items and require scores of 445 and 465 respectively out of a possible 900 points. CompTIA's website has an article that explains the changes and includes an FAQ at the bottom of the page which can be found at: http://www.comptia.org/certification/aplus/aplus_adaptive_live.htm

As many of you may know, the A+ exam will soon undergo another major revision that will be an update to the material that candidates are tested on as much of it has lost relevance. They will get rid of the Windows 3.1 and Customer Service modules and will focus on Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000. CompTIA anticipates these updated to go live in December of this year. For those of you who have pursued MCSE certification on the NT 4.0 track and are working on Windows 2000, should seriously consider getting this certification as it will cover much of the information that you have already been tested on. More information on these changes can be found at http://www.comptia.org/certification/aplus/atestupdate.htm

CompTIA is also working on updating the Network+ exam to an adaptive format which is scheduled to go live in the 1st quarter of 2001.

    SURVEY RESULTS:
Our most recent survey asked, "Have you taken a Windows 2000 exam yet?" Below are the results.
    No - 90%
    Yes - 10%
We were surprised to see that 10% have already jumped in a begun the Windows 2000 journey. We'll try this one again in a couple of months and see how much these figures change.
    There were 691 respondents.
