What's New @ MC MCSE:
Apologies
This newsletter is not only a few days late, but it is going to be an abbreviated version of our usual format. We are working hard on a number of projects and the time just slipped away. I am including the latest news, because I know that is important to our readers and I promise that our next issue will be loaded with our usual features.

New Article
Jidaw Systems has contributed an article to us titled, "CompTIA, Value and Top Certifications". This article discusses CompTIA certifications and is a great introduction to CompTIA certs for those who are not very familiar with them.

New Moderator
It seems as though our moderator Tibeu is not coming back and I will be away a little more in the near future. So it seemed like a good idea to add another mod to the team. I am happy to announce that KidVelvet will be joining our mod team. He is super friendly and has already been providing excellent answers to people's questions. Let's welcome him aboard!

New Tutorial
We have added a new tutorial titled "Cabling Cisco Devices". This tutorial is to help prepare for the CCNA exam.

Network+ Exam Upgrade Announced
CompTIA has announced that they will be upgrading the Network+ exam next year. The upgrade will be timed to fit with the end of the 2004-2005 school year which means that the new exam should make its first appearance in late spring or early summer of 2005.

Server+ Beta
CompTIA has announced that the beta exam for the new Server+ objectives will be available on August 2, 2004. CompTIA labeled the upgrade to the exam as "significant" and claims that they have changed or removed over 40 of the exam objectives. The new exam will focus on the entire lifespan of a server including design and implementation rather than concentrating solely on troubleshooting skills.

Microsoft and VUE Extend Retake Program
Microsoft and VUE have announced that they will extend the Second Shot program until September 30th. The Second Shot program allows U.S. candidates who fail selected Microsoft exams to retake the exam at no charge.

The launch schedule for additional countries will be announced soon.

The Cisco Learning Credits allows customers to buy training when they buy Cisco products or services which is aimed at "reducing the cost of administering separate budgets and expense reimbursements associated with the purchase of training on an ad hoc basis". Channel Partners can purchase credits for resale or use for internal training needs. 1-Tier Channel Partners and distributors will receive a 10% discount.
